Judy's dad's memorial service was yesterday. Some people felt the timing was unfortunate because August 16 is also Judy's birthday. Judy didn't mind the choice of date because it gave her the opportunity to celebrate later in the evening with extended family members that she has not seen in a long time.
The celebration of Mr. Opheim's life was a time of laughter, remembering, and, of course, tears. He was a character and a great man who affected many lives in a positive way.
Judy is getting stronger everyday. I still help her get into the shower, but she is able to towel off and look after her colostomy independently. She was able to get out of the house over the last two days.
Today, we begin the task of sorting through her dad's personal items and clearing some things out of the apartment while Judy's brother is still in Saskatoon. He flies back to Toronto on Tuesday.
Thank you again to everyone who has prayed for us, supported us, and brought food items over the past week.
We are looking forward to having life getting back to normal as we know it.
